  Now is the best time to sharpen your interview and job skills.  Ensuring that youð€™re at the top of your game when you get that phone call to interview for the career youð€™ve been hoping for will get you to the head of the class.  How can you improve your interview and job skills before the time comes?  Simple, do some research.  Itð€™s easy to sit and wait around for that phone call to come and interview, but you need to make sure youð€™re well prepared ahead of time.  Instead of just watching the clock, use your computer.  Itð€™s going to be the most powerful tool for you to get a job.

 

Having a strong sense of confidence when you walk in to that office to interview for that job is incredibly important.  Body language says a lot about a person, so know how to be confident, but not arrogant.  Itð€™s great to be proud of yourself and the skills you possess, and thatð€™s what people want to hire.  Prepare yourself to be the best at your interview and job skills.  For example, most jobs in the administrative field require use of software like Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.  Many of us have this on our computer at home but never take the time to learn how to use them.  Open them up and explore!  Take Excel tutorials on your own time to sharpen your skills so you can say youð€™re experienced with the software on your resume.

If you work ahead of time, before you even get that first interview, youð€™ll be in great shape.  The internet is a valuable tool, so use it!  Learn the basics of those software programs and learn how to answer tough interview questions.  Also, itð€™s important to know how to dress for the interview.  We need to dress for the job we want, so make sure to have a sharp-looking outfit.  No matter how simple the job is, wear a suit!  Interviewers will be looking at every detail about you, so you need to stand out from the rest, remember: there may be a hundred others who want the same position you do.  If you work hard and make sure that you have the best interview and job skills once it comes time to apply, youð€™ll be in a great shape.
