Firefighters must be able to deal with life threatening situations with the calm confidence that saves lives. They are able to control their emotions and stay focused on the task at hand. With your emotions in check you would be able to handle daily stress activities with a calm logical focus.÷ 

The ability to self motivate and make decisions while using common sense not only helps to keep a firefighter alive but can also help you in your daily activities be more successful. They are resourceful, able to determine priorities and can complete complex task while trying to save lives. A firefighter also can sometimes act as a councilor while being supportive and empathetic. They stand up for what they believe in and live by their ethical and moral code. This is something that we all start out doing, but as time moves on it is growing steadily harder to stick to your own moral compass.÷ 

Those of us who know firefighters as friends or family know that those are just some of the more professional characteristics that they are known by. We know how courageous and brave they are in the face of danger. They have this complete willingness, almost a need, to help other people. Firefighters display good judgment, honesty and creativity in order to do what is necessary to save lives.÷ 

There is just something to be said about someone who is so willing to lay their life of the line every day of the year. This is where their selfless characteristics are so truly amazing. They work excellently as a team and believe in leaving no one behind.÷ 

The characteristics of a firefighter may not be perfect all the time, but no one is. They are definitely someone that you can look up to while continuing to work on our own characteristics. Nothing ever stays the same and just like a firefighter who is always learning and strengthening new skills we must continue to grow by learning from others.
